Out of the glass leap bright, red-fruity aromatics (raspberry, blackcherry, strawberry), enhanced by notes of ginger, oak, and earth spice.Modest tannins and well-balanced acidity support the exhibition ofdarker tobacco and cherry cola flavors, leading toward a pleasant, lingering finish. 'Ampelos' is Greek for 'vine.' Lambda is the mathematical symbol for the cosmological constant as proposed by Einstein (as a modification of his original theory of general relativity to achieve a stationary universe, in case anyone asks). Rebecca and Peter Work founded Ampelos Cellars upon the philosophy that great wine is made in the vineyard and it is their intention to produce (with the help of Rebecca's son Don, current assistant winemaker at Sea Smoke Cellars) this estate Pinot every year since the inaugural vintage, 2004.& nbsp; The finished wine is a blend of two clones - clone 115 and Pommard 4 - that were aged separately in 35% new oak and 65% neutral barrels for 17 months, until the second racking when final blend was made.
