A blend of about 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, an d10% Mazuelo & Graciano, the Seleccion Especial from Muga is aged 6 months in wooden vats, 30 months in oak barrels and 12 months in bottles. The scarlet, blood-like coloring is true to its hearty character. Aromas of stewed dark red fruits (cherry, plum), saddle leather, and roasted coffee beans greet the nose, with more intense expressions of roasting coffee, black cherry, blackberry preserves, and oak chips upon entry. This is a contemplative, well-rounded wine with balanced acid and solid, strong tannin. Leather and spice re-emerge on the finish, which is enlivened by punjent red cherry fruit flavors. The chewey, grippy, long fininsh makes the mouth water for more! Can age up to 1015.
