Like Duckhorn Vineyards' estate wines, Decoy, Duckhorn's sister label, is produced from classic
Bordeaux varietals. Blends vary from vintage to vintage, but will generally hover around a breakdown of about half Cabernet Sauvignon, a third Merlot, and a tenth each Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
Stylistically, Decoy is a fruit-forward and well-rounded, approachable red wine with smooth tannins and a long, fruity finish. Warm-weather Napa Valley vineyard sources and 100% French oak barrel ageing yield a combination of ripe berry/cherry and rose petal aromas. On the palate, darker blackberry, black cherry, and cassis flavors may be accented by white pepper spice as the wine opens. Consistent and crowd-pleasing.
